[ ABOUT THE CLASS SERIES ]
“Finding Flight in the Flesh” is a dance series investigating preparations for take off. The series works inside of a framework principled on Black fugitivity to articulate movements of the flesh and breath. We will spend time acknowledging our body’s archives and actualizing the story of our “future body”--one we are actively working towards.
Modern dance vocabularies and various movement tasks will serve as containers to play with flying and submerging; shushing and screaming; legibility and illegibility; momentum; and all of the other goodness that will come from our collective energies.
The series intends to expand our physical agility with clarity and an improvisational readiness.
