DESCRIPTION:
An in-depth practice with BAIRA / MVMNT PHLOSPHY reflex/response methods, contemporary partnering and performance studies. Using different physical tools and games, we will challenge our creative movement instincts; refining our reflexes and becoming more confident in our moving bodies. We will throw, catch, tumble and fly together in a vigorous partnering technique that explores trust, vulnerability and responsibility with the weight we give and receive. This intensive will test our comfortability with the cycle of connecting, disconnecting and reconnecting, allowing us to move through our dance training and our life with greater flexibility and strength.

LOCATION/DATES:
The intensive will be held at the Maggie Allesee Department of Theatre and Dance at Wayne State University from June 27-July 2, 2020. There will be a showcase on July 2, featuring a performance of material and concepts we've been practicing together during the week, as well as works submitted by any intensive participants who want to share!

SCHEDULE:
June 27-July 1, 11am-6pm - Each day will begin with a Technique + Tools class, exploring the movement vocabulary of BAIRA. After lunch, the day will resume with a Partnering class. Intensive participants and faculty will have the opportunity to move together at the end of the day with a collective Playscape, during which we will explore and create together in a structured improvisational environment to further discover new physical meanings from the day's work. The day will conclude with a cool down and reflection.

July 2, 12pm-6pm - The last day of the intensive will begin with a warm-up and final class, as well as time to review any material for the showcase before the beginning of the showcase at 4:30pm.

TUITION:
Early Bird Tuition - $375 (Deadline: March 15, 2020)
Bring-a-Friend Tuition - $400 (come with a friend and you each get $50 off the regular tuition! Available: March 16-June 14, 2020)
Regular Tuition - $450 (Available: March 16-June 26, 2020)
Day-Of Tuition - $470 (includes a $20 day-of registration fee; starting: June 27, 2020)
